Chapter of the Lanugo Brush
Brush as one of China's long history of the four treasures of study; the performance of its colorful culture and art can become the quintessence of China. The value of Brush collections is nothing less than the jade jewelry. The making of “Lanugo Brush” has been a custom since the Tang Dynasty. The Lanugo Brush is the making of brush from the infant’s hair after his/her birth. It is the only souvenir that the infant has after he/she gets separated from the mother’s womb. It is in the most natural form and highly precious to both the child and the parents.

According to a legend, there was a student who brought his Lanugo Brush for his Scholar Examinations. Being thankful to his parents and feeling them by his side, he wrote with strong determination and great energy. He became the Scholar for his batch. Hence, the Lanugo Brush is also known as the Scholar Brush. As a result, it has become a norm for the Scholars to use the Lanugo Brush at that moment. Lanugo Brush also became a form to symbolize the literary family of the characterization, to commerate the collection, tokens of love, etc. and such was spread to even Japan and Taiwan.

Traditions
All mothers would have high hopes and best wishes for their child; health and safety for the child, successful in life, to embrace happiness and peace. Hence, there are many traditional rituals to celebrate new baby:
Shave: Shaving is unique to the ancient custom, symbolizes his new life; his life would start from scratch and gets a complete life.
To mold: After shaving of one’s hair, baby will proceed to shave his eyebrows, symbolizes the removal of bad luck. It is a form of sacrificial ritual, as a form of respect for his forefathers.
Omen: Rolling of red eggs on the head for three times; symbolizes good luck as well as good marriage.
Robust: After the visit to the barber, baby is to bathe in a bathtub with two big rocks placed inside. It symbolizes good health.
Wisdom: Also include two onions in the bathtub, "clever" as the homonyms, symbolizes wisdom.
Wealth: Also include gold pieces and then put a 6 coin. It symbolizes good luck and wealth.
Transmission: The shaving of baby’s hair allows management and making of the lanugo brush.

Each of the ceremonies and rituals symbolize the love and best wishes the parents have for their child.


Details and Forms of Langugo Brush
Lanugo Brush in accordance to the amount of hair collected can be made into three different forms of brush :

1. Single Brush
Single-brush can be served as an expression of love for oneself or others. It is ideal for working adults as it symbolizes success in career and wealth. For parents who want their children to have flying colours in examinations, single-brush also served as the Scholar Brush. By placing the Scholar Brush on the child's study table, or placing it against the wall in the child's room, symbolizes wisdom and knowledge.

2. Two-Brush
(One for the child to keep, the other for him to write/One for the child, one for the parents)

Two-brush can be served as a token of exchange and hence provides the perfect blend for affection and love. In addition, it can also serve as a memento for the baby's parents: an expression of love. It embodies the filial piety of a child; his life bearing in mind of the love and care the parents have showered. It also leaves a permanent memorial for the child, the Lanugo Brush (Their own hair) to write his own way of life! In addition, the Lanugo Brush allows a more nurturing childhood for the baby; a more profound love for the Chinese culture.

3. Couple Brush.
Couple brush can served as a Love Token Brush. In ancient China, betrothal is in accordance to the parents' will. Due to forced propriety and social pressure, exchange tokens of love between men and women are generally private; unknown to the others. Now, apart from expensive diamonds, jewelry, necklaces, rings, etc., as tokens of love, the love token (brush) made from both parties' hair is also a good choice. We believe that couples who keep the brush with them, can bring good luck, and ultimately realize their aspirations and good love.

Couple Brush is ideal for newly married couples. Su Shi Poetry: "There is no doubt in love when it comes to hair knot in a couple." Couple brush made with husband and wife's hair knot allows them to hand in hand leave a way out from this memorial. Innate spirituality of the brush represents the forever love in the couple. With the impending blissful marriage, the black hair strand from both husband and wife creates a synthetic brush (dragon and phoenix) symbolizing a hundred years together, well and good luck in the marriage. Chapter of the Umbrical Cord

Since ancient times people have preserved the customs and wishes of the umbilical cord. Umbilical cord and the mother has a special bond connected. It has inherited the innate maternal blood Aura. It serves as the baby's amulet of life on the road, not only does it get rid of all kinds of evil, gives the baby energy, it also has a collection of high significance. In the ancient, umbilical cord also serves as the symbol of treasury.

Procedure for Ordering

1）Do place the umbrical cord/hair inside a red packet, write down the name on the red packet.

2）Choose your favourite brush/chop, then include the words/phrases you would like to have on the brush/chop.
*A brush can include maximum 3 details. For eg, Baby's name, Baby's Chinese birthdate, Baby's Western birthdate, Parents' name, or well wishes.
*A chop can ONLY engrave the baby's name.

3）Please fill up the details in the application form attached below, then send an email with the attachment to the following email address : memento.of.love@gmail.com
* Please ensure that your details are correct, we will not be responsible for any changes during the course of production.



- We will contact you in no more than 2-3 days after you have sent your application to our mailbox.

胎发笔通
毛笔作为中国历史悠久的文房四宝之一，以其能表现多姿多彩的文化艺术而成为中国的国粹，其收藏价值，不亚于玉石珠宝。

自唐代以来就有制作"胎毛笔"（胎发笔）的习俗，唐朝诗人齐卫《送胎发笔寄仁公诗》中有"内为胎发外秋毫，绿衣新裁管束牢"的诗句，便是极好的明证。
所谓"胎发笔"即婴儿出生后剪下的头发做成的笔，是小宝宝离娘胎后唯一可留作纪念的，它具有人生仅有一次的自然发锋，弥足珍贵。

相传有一学子，以自己的胎毛笔上京赴考，感恩父母养育之情，才思泉涌，下笔如有神助，一举高中头榜；胎毛笔因此又有"状元笔"之雅称。文人使用胎毛笔（胎发笔）一时蔚为风气，成为书香门第的表徵，用以纪念、收藏、辟邪、定情等，在日本、台湾广为流传。

习俗/礼仪
每个宝宝的降生，母亲都寄予厚望与祝福，希望宝宝平安健康、成家立业、飞黄腾达，因而就有许多庆贺新生宝宝的传统礼俗：

剃头：为初生宝宝剃理胎毛，是古代特有习俗，愿他从头开始，一生圆满。
去霉：理发后接着为宝宝剃除眉毛，去除霉运，祭祖礼仪时，表尊敬之意。
吉兆：理发后用红蛋于头顶滚三圈，取意鸿运当头，愿平步青去，有好姻缘。
健壮：理发后为宝宝洗澡，于澡盆中放入石头两个，身体健康，壮如硬石。
聪明：同时摆放葱两根，取与“聪”同音，愿宝宝聪明过人，智慧不凡。
富贵：再放置金锁片一个与铜钱六枚，愿宝宝吉祥如意，大富大贵。
传承：剃理之胎毛，由父母择以具有保存价值之笔杆制作成为宝宝开运辟邪，愿宝宝平安长大，飞黄腾达。
每项仪式和礼俗都蕴含着父母对宝宝无尽的期许与祝福。

格式胎发笔
胎发笔"可根据胎毛的多少制成单笔、对笔或套笔。

1。单笔
单笔可用于对自己与他人的宠爱。父母可为子女购买文昌笔。顾名思意，就是旺文。父母将子女的头发制成笔，安置在房內個人文昌之方位牆面，或書桌上面，以代表象徵文君帝君臨宅，就近庇祐學子用功學習，學業進步。在事业里，单笔也象征事業順利發展。

2。对笔
对笔可用于宝宝长大后和喜接连理的对方互换定情物，更可使亲情和爱情完美交融。套笔除上述对笔的用途外，还可留一支给宝宝的父母以作纪念：一则表达慈爱之心，它凝聚着天高地厚的亲情，能让孩子一生牢记父母的养育之恩；二则为孩子留下永久纪念，寓意着激历孩子"用自己的毛发之笔，书写自己的人生之路！"此外，胎毛笔（胎发笔）可使宝宝从小受到笔墨情趣的熏陶，更加热爱博大精深的中华文化。

3。套笔
在中国古代，定亲是男女双方确定婚姻关系、仅次于正式结婚的社会性的重要礼仪。定亲遵循的是“父母之命、媒妁之言”，而处于青春期的少男少女们却常有用信物来定情的做法；迫于礼教和社会压力，交换定情信物一般都是男女双方私下进行，他人无从知晓。到了现在,除了昂贵的钻石、珠宝、项链、戒指等等都作为了定情信物之外，用双方的头发做成定情笔也是一种很好的选择。情侣们相信把许愿之后的定情笔佩带于身，可以带来好运气，最终实现自己的愿望和美好的爱情。

苏轼有诗：“结发为夫妻，恩爱两不疑”。用夫妻二人的头发制成的结发笔，不仅是二人从此携手共走人生路的纪念，同时结发笔象征着“两缕青丝伴红线，一笔谱写半生缘”。这支笔的天生灵性会永远闪烁夫妻恩爱的光辉，使夫妻相爱、相佐、相扶到永远。

订制胎毛笔/胎发坠/脐带章程序

1）将胎毛/脐带用红包封袋装起来，并写上宝宝名字。

2）选择您喜爱的笔杆/印章/发坠，及所要雕刻在笔杆上的文字。
* 笔杆上一般可雕刻3种资料，如：宝宝名字，农历生日日期，阳历生日日期，父母名，或祝福语。
* 印章只能刻宝宝名字。
* 发坠不能雕刻任何字。
